Disability Insurance
For working years, the largest unprotected asset is often not a house or a farm. It is the ability to earn.
A long disability can do to a family what a market crash cannot: stop the income while the bills keep arriving. Individual disability income insurance replaces a portion of earnings if illness or injury keeps you from working. Group coverage through an employer, if you have it, is a start — and it is often thinner, less portable, and easier to lose than people think.
Own-occupation definitions, elimination periods, and benefit length are the real design choices. So is whether a business owner needs overhead expense coverage so the shop can survive the same stretch.
Ted has worked with individuals and closely held companies around Indianapolis for more than 28 years. The conversation is practical: what a month without a paycheck would actually do, and which carrier will underwrite the occupation you have — not the one on a brochure.
